The mountain
前森山・西森山 (Maemori-yama and Nishimori-yama)
- Landform
- Two summits, 1,305 m and 1,328 m, sit on the edge of the Hachimantai volcanic upland, and the lifts serve both, so the terrain here is two separate hills instead of one face.
- Rock
- The top is andesite lava and pyroclastic rock from the early Pleistocene. Further down it becomes the rubble of a volcano that collapsed and spread out, and the gentle lower half is built on that rubble.
