- 富良野西岳 (Furano Nishi-dake) 1,331 m
- Landform
- Most of the mountains on JapowDB are volcanoes, but Furano is not. It sits on the eastern edge of the Yubari range, on the side of a lesser peak, so every run tips the same way.
- Rock
- The rock changes partway down. Up top it is granodiorite and tonalite, a hard Miocene intrusion that holds a steep line. Lower down it turns to marine conglomerate from the same era, sediment that settled on a sea floor, so the hill is an old seabed with the harder intrusion pushed up through the middle.

What grows on it
Mostly evergreen conifer: fir, spruce and planted cedar. They keep their needles through the winter, so the stands stay dark and closed.
