  • JR East Unreserved seats need no booking; reserved seats via Eki-net. Only Hakutaka services stop at Iiyama Station.
  • Seated-capacity service — when full you cannot board. Bills of ¥2,000+ not accepted (credit touch works).
  • The Oito Line between Itoigawa and Minami-Otari runs only a handful of trains a day (midday gaps of nearly 3 hours) — check connections before committing.
